Talk to your GP

We advise that you have a conversation with your GP. Your GP can give you good advice and help you find the right healthcare organization.

Find a healthcare organization that suits you

The Netherlands Healthcare Map (Nederlands Zorgkaart)  lists all healthcare organizations that can help you with your gambling problem. Most organizations do not require you to stay overnight, so you can continue to work or do your daily schedule in addition to your treatment.

Assistance from a healthcare organization is covered by basic healthcare insurance. You only pay your 'eigen risico'.

Register yourself voluntarily in Cruks

You can voluntarily register in Cruks. This is a register that ensures that you can no longer gamble at any legal (online) casino in the Netherlands. Using your DigiD you can decide for yourself how long you want to set a gambling stop. The gambling stop is for at least 6 months, but the longer you set the gambling stop, the better it works. On average, people choose 13 years.

Important! This registration does not help you to no longer buy lottery tickets or scratch cards or to gamble on slot machines in, for example, a café, cafeteria or restaurant.

What can I do myself

Useful tips and tools are described here to help you stop or reduce gambling.

Talk to the (online) casino you are visiting

Every legal casino in the Netherlands has a duty of care. This means that they will help you if you have a gambling problem. You can limit your visits, keep track of how often you gamble or even arrange an entry ban or exclusion. Talk about it with an employee at the casino. They are happy to help you.

Visit the Loket Kansspel website

The Loket Kansspel has a lot of specialized knowledge and experience. They listen to you, offer practical advice about exclusion and limits and can help you with your debts. These services are free.

Talk about it!

Don't make your gambling a secret. Talking about it with others can help enormously in examining your gambling behavior. Would you rather not do this with people from your inner circle? Then visit the AGOG website. The AGOG organizes meetings throughout the country where you can talk about your gambling with others who have the same problem as you.
